Next year marks 25 years since the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum opened its doors in the heart of Stowe.

In 2002, what was once the Town Meeting House on Main Street became a permanent home for the stories, people, and traditions that have shaped skiing and snowboarding in Vermont. As we approach this milestone, I find myself thinking not only about everything that has happened within these walls, but about what comes next.

For nearly 25 years, people have walked through our doors carrying their own connections to Vermont’s mountains. Some remember rope tows, wooden skis, and the early days of Vermont’s ski areas. Others found their place on Nordic trails, snowboards, or in the backcountry. Some raced, coached, patrolled, built trails, or helped shape the industry and mountain communities. Others are encountering Vermont’s snow sports history for the very first time.

Their stories are different, but together they are part of a history worth preserving.

Today, the Museum cares for the artifacts, photographs, archives, and stories entrusted to us while keeping that history alive through exhibits, programs, events, and conversations that connect generations. And there is still so much more to preserve, uncover, and share.

As we prepare to celebrate our 25th anniversary in Stowe, your year-end gift will help us begin our next chapter from a position of strength. Twenty-five years in Stowe is a milestone worth celebrating. It is also a reminder that institutions like ours endure because people believe these stories are worth carrying forward.
